Amazon Mural Graphic Design

Panoptic took on the graphic design work for this full-wall SEG mural showcasing the Amazon. Wrapping two tanks and a doorway, this large mural aims to convey the sheer size of the Amazon basin, and the vital importance of a healthy rainforest. 

Panoptic used content provided by Mystic Aquarium to arrange into an eye-catching display that matches the Aquarium's general aesthetic but with a unique voice. We sought to evoke the earthy, dark, biodiverse ecosystem of the Amazon with dark forest green and terra cotta, with pops of lightness like sun dappling on a tall canopy. A few stategically-placed charismatic megafauna are placed areound the body text that discusses the impact that the Amazon rainforest has on global systems, hoping to draw visitors in and tug on their empathy. Protecting the Amazon has never been more critical, so we hoped to reach visitors in a place of deep compassion for the organisms that dwell there. An overlay of the Amazon on a map of the United States aims to show the sheer size of the basin and underscore the massive influence that the rainforest can have on climate change and conservation measures.
