The Farm in the Woods

Visitors loved hanging out outside at the Amelia Park Children's Museum, but they need more than the concrete patio that was there. Enter Panoptic. We implemented a phased approach to this project and assisted with fundraising, providing drawings and giving presentations, to create a premier outdoor play and learning space that blends classic outdoor fun with thoughtful discovery opportunities about farms, nature, and the spaces in between. Subtitled "Life along the Stone Wall", this space examines concepts such as biodiversity, soil science, plant knowledge, and animal homes, with hands-on learning aimed at children of all ages. Toddlers can explore texture in the sand box while a preteen climbs the giant spider web. Young children delight in finding all the animals hiding in the "Three Bears' Cottage" while adults with babies enjoy some quiet aromatherapy in the hidden garden. Whether climbing the big mossy rock, helping move "nutrients" along the taproot, or operating the tractor, there's something for everyone at the Farm in the Woods.
